Weekend

We had a good weekend. Max stayed the night with us Saturday night and Mollie with Grandma as Amy and Russ were at a wedding. We painted, played outside, watched a movie, made dinner, played games and watched another movie - putting us to bed at 11 p.m. Max was pretty proud of himself for staying up that late! Thankfully, he slept in until 8:09 a.m., which is good for Max. He usually likes to start his day by 6 a.m. Below are two photos of Max and his painting of the space shuttle (which he did completely on his own!) - and one of Mollie.

So a co-worker of mine (with too much time on his hands) decided to photoshop some photos in an attempt to create a photo of our future baby. Below are his creations.

Our First Appointment

Today we had our first appointment with our midwife. Everything went well. She gave us a due date of January 17, 2009, which means we are 10 and a half weeks.

She was unable to hear the baby's heartbeat with the doppler - she said due to my uterus being tilted - so she wanted us to have an ultrasound. Fortunately, we were able to head right over to the perinatologists' office and have it performed. We were thrilled we didn't have to wait a few days to have that done. Once we got over there, and got started, the tech found the heartbeat right away - 170 beats. Then, we were able to see the baby! The tech gave us lots of different views - with our favorite being the baby's profile. We saw two arms, two legs and a heart. We were able to see the baby moving and flipping around - which was really kind of neat. Below is the profile image.

I've been feeling ok. Feel the worst at night, usually after dinner. Very queasy....with some minor headaches. I feel like I force myself to eat constantly in order to prevent the queasiness. I'm looking forward to the 2nd trimester when I will hopefully feel back to normal.

Expecting

With some wonderful news, we begin our blog to announce we are expecting. We found out Friday, May 9 - poignantly Mother's Day weekend. As we go down this journey to parenthood, we'll share our fun along the way.
