What a year - so far! Record snow this winter....then a smooth spring...and now a record-breaking summer! It was a flood unlike any other we have had - definitely worse than 1993. Thankfully now the water is subsiding. Lots of detours to and from work, but luckily never getting stranded. When the roads to the north were closed - the roads to the south were still barely passable...but when those closed - the roads to the north started opening. It was an interesting, depressing, week.
This is the road just to the south of us. The water in '93 was probably 1/4 to 1/2 mile farther back. This photo shows the how the whole bayou is under water. Sur-real to see in person.
This is Mom/Dad's corner. A little deceiving with the corn being so tall it prevents showing the vastness of water - everywhere.
This was the view from our front door. Thankfully it did not make it to us - or into our basement. Can't say others were so lucky.
